Jodie Comer stars in The Last Duel trailer which sees Matt Damon and Adam Driver fight to death
The first trailer for The Last Duel was released on Tuesday.
And Jodie Comer, 28, shared the clip on Instagram, and gushed that she felt âso proud to share this. What a dream come trueâ
In the dramatic clip, Jodie could be seen as French noblewoman Marguerite de Carrouges in the Ridley Scott-directed epic, as a booming voice says: âThere is only one question that matters. Do you swear on your life that what you say is true?â

Adapted from Eric Jagerâs book of the same name, The Last Duel follows the true story of Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon), a 14th century French knight who embarks on a fight to the death with former friend Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver).
Jodieâs character Marguerite is the woman at the centre of the fight, after she and her husband de Carrouges accuse Le Gris of raping her.
In the trailer, Killing Eve star Jodie can be heard saying in character: âMy father told me my life would be blessed with good fortune,â before she declares: âIâm married, I was a good wife.â

As she reflects on how her claims Les Gris raped her are received, she added: âAnd then I was judged and shamed by my country.â
The two knights, Jean and Jacques, can then be seen preparing for their duel as they mount their horses in front of a baying crowd.
Marguerite then shouts: âI say before all of you, I spoke the truth.â
A special relationship: The Last Duel marks the first return of Benâs writing partnership with Matt Damon since their award-winning script for Good Will Hunting

Ben Affleckâs character Count Pierre dâAlençon then makes an appearance, saying: âThe most unspeakable charge has been brought against you.â
In response, Marguerite says: âJacques Le Gris entered our home, he attacked meâ, to which Adam says as Jacques: âThe accusation is false.â
It is then decided the men shall âfight to the deathâ and âlet God decideâ their fate, before Mattâs Jean tells Marguerite: âIâm risking my life.â

But clearly she wonât be cowed, as Marguerite tells him: âYouâre risking my life to save your pride.â
The Last Duel marks the first return of Mattâs writing partnership with Ben since their award-winning script for Good Will Hunting.
The pair co-wrote the screenplay alongside Nicole Holofcener.

Originally, Matt and Ben were set to play the two leading roles in the film, but they ran into scheduling conflicts because of Benâs film Deep Water, so Adam took over the role of Le Gris.
Filming began on the movie in February last year in France but the set was shut down in March due to the pandemic and travel restrictions in Europe, before they returned to filming in September.
Matt was at the filmâs next location in Ireland when lockdown began and, amid the travel ban, ended up isolating in the seaside resort of Dalkey, an affluent suburb of Dublin with his wife and four children for a few weeks.
The Last Duel had a scheduled released date of December 2020 but it has now been pushed back to October 15, 2021.
